Our Curriculum

At Aurora Rowan School, we raise standards by promoting a school ethos which is underpinned by our core values of being caring, ambitious, collaborative, trusted, and innovative. These values support the development of the whole student as an effective and engaged learner within a calm, caring, happy and purposeful atmosphere.

We follow the pathway approach with students working on skills across our five main curriculum drivers of Communication and English, Independence and Cognition, Outdoor School and Community, Physical Wellbeing, Play and Leisure.

Using strategies that are individual to each student, we incorporate sensory integration, intensive interaction, a structured approach to teaching and attention autism to support our students.

We provide an integrated therapy approach led by an experienced and comprehensive on-site therapy team, which includes a Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Sensory Integration Specialists, and a Thrive Practitioner.

Adopting a ‘whole child’ approach ensures that the educational, therapeutic, wellbeing and physical needs of each student are considered when planning and reviewing the curriculum.

With a high staff to student ratio and small classes, we are able to know each of our students’ needs and potential and employ the best strategies to support them in preparation for adulthood.
